SEALCOATING

   Aurora Asphalt & Sealcoating offers the top of the line sealcoating service.  Sealcoating is essential in preventing your asphalt surface from premature failure.

    Our sealcoating process consists of 5 steps:

• POWER EDGING -        Cutting away unwanted, overgrown grass and weeds from the edges of the asphalt surface giving a very neat appearance.

• POWER CLEANING -    Wire brushes/brooms are used to loosen up all debris on the asphalt surface and in cracks.  Power blowers with air speed of over 200mph are used then to blow the surface clean.  Standard sweep equipment is used for large sealcoating projects.
   
• OIL SPOT PRIMING -   Petroleum spots are cleaned and primed to improve adhesion of sealer.

• CRACK FILLING - Rubberized crack filler is heated to 400º F and poured into cracks 1/4 to 1 -1/2 inches wide and 1/4 inch deep.  This is equivalent to the process used on our city streets.  The hot rubber will retain its elasticity during repeated freeze/thaw cycles.  Routing of the cracks is available and suggested for large crack filling projects at an additional charge.  The diagram below shows how the crack filler is able to seal a crack with proper adhesion to the asphalt after routing.

• SEALCOATING -          Our sealer is a commercial grade coal tar emulsion base sealer which meets and exceeds RP-355e specifications.  The sealer is a slip-resistant formula with silica sand and rubber additives.  This allows for maximum penetration into the pores of the surface.   The sealer is applied with a 36 inch or 48 inch brush thus also providing maximum penetration versus spray applications.  Finally, we barricade all access to the sealed surfaces.

     Aurora Asphalt & Sealcoating warranty is for 1 year.  This excludes frost cracks, petroleum damage, punctures, and normal wear and tear.
