PATCHING / APRON REPAIR

Many driveways or parking lots may need areas patched or aprons repaired.  If your asking yourself what is an apron, the apron is what extends out from your garage 3-6 feet.  Sometimes an apron is cement, other times it is asphalt.  When your driveway sinks where it meets the garage floor, you have a few options.

The first option if it has sunk enough would be to patch over top of the existing.  We first clean the surface.  Tack oil is then applied to the surface to help the asphalt adhere.  We then bring in 41A hot asphalt and patch the area leaving a smooth transition from driveway to garage.  This option is a temporary fix since the reason for the sinking is the base material beneath the surface washing away.

The second option would be to saw cut between 3-6 feet out across the driveway.  We then remove the asphalt.  This option is especially necessary if your apron is sunk and you can see the block under the garage floor.  We fill all the block and raise the level of the base material.  The base is then compacted with a double drum vibratory roller and/or vibratory plate.   We then bring in 41A hot asphalt and patch the area that was cut out.  Again, compacting the asphalt with a double drum vibratory roller and/or vibratory plate.  After compaction you will have a smooth transition from driveway to garage.

Other patching elsewhere in your driveway or parking lot is taken care of in the same manner.  We have the choice of saw cutting the area out and replacing the asphalt or applying tack oil over the area and doing a skin patch.  Skin patches are not as durable as cut-outs but can offer an inexpensive, temporary fix.

Aurora Asphalt & Sealcoating warranty is for 1 year.  This excludes frost cracks, petroleum damage, punctures, and normal wear.
